i know this is not about T-bird or cougar but today it was it was about 40 above .the sun was out . i had a day off and my back didn't hurt.
so i been thinking about the bumble bee and i wanted to get it running as a driver.
(http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/705352/fullsize/04banana-001.jpg)
it had 6CYL 200 or 250(not sure which one at this time) and C-5 tranny, both had a very low milage on them . it still need a few things to get it running.
well i remember the gas milage my 80 fairmont got with this combo was around 17mpg.
(http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/705398/fullsize/82-banana-0011.jpg)
then i have a 1987 5.0&AOD tranny from crown vic that only had 72,000 miles before the 1owner car forgot what a stop sign was.
(http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/708029/fullsize/3.jpg)(http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/708030/fullsize/4.jpg)
then i remember about the 6cyl K member and i happen to come across this V8 k member.that some one had put rebuilt rack and brakes on when the car was wrecked.
(http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/707998/fullsize/bumble-bee-002.jpg)
so on this nice sunny day. i got out to the tharapy room about 10am. started pulling the 6cyl/tranny and Kmember.
(http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/708005/fullsize/bumble-bee-004.jpg)
a little after 12 noon .i rolled the bumble bee out side for a bath of the under side,

at abut 2 pm inside she went to have the V8 K member was going in;

My day was spent at school wishing I could work on the Cougar and get some stuff done on it and legal to drive.
I really like that car.

Are you swapping doors? Looks odd to me with the newer quarter glass
i'm not doing anything with doors .some day i plan to get all the chrome trim off and put in black but i'm just working on the drivetrain to it more a driver for now..
for the interior.
i have 85/86 turbo-bird front seats.
inside door panels and carpet from black 82 stang GT .
That looks way more enjoyable than how I spent my day.
Yeah, I sure do miss the rust free Montana cars. That stangs undersided looks clean as hell. And yes, even when I lived up there, we did indeed throw cars that clean away. I'm sorry as h*ll now though. We don't find them like that down here.
! Not nearly as productive as yours... that would've taken me at least 2 days. Gettin' old sucks.
I plotted world domination....
Step 1: Collect Underpants
Step 2:
Step 3: World Domination
Curse you step 2 !!!
Last of three midterms this week, one each day so far. BLEHHHHH. Glad that's finally over with. More than ready for the weekend, three day-er too!
Respect what you accomplished in a day.
But I didn't have a day off.
i got laidoff last thursday so im doing taxes once there done its hunny do's :beatyoass: till i can bury my self into the tbird doing the engine swap:D
I started working on my second million. The first was such a dismal failure...
hello
well after work .i hurry home like i had a hot date.
ran to my bed room,strip off the work clothes. jump in to the tharapy clothes.
i got out to the shop about 7pm. i move the 5.0&AOD to front of the bumble bee.;
(http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/708156/fullsize/bumble-bee.-002.jpg)
while the 5.0 was there .i change the front motor mounts from crown vic to fox body. then i put her up on jack two stands and i said ,here open wide;
(http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/708158/fullsize/bumble-bee.-004.jpg)
after gettting the 5.0 sitting on the front mounts. i move to the under side to put the double hump cross member in. first one cross member side bolt, then run around the car to other side. put in the other side cross member bolt. lower jack under tranny. dang,i forgot to swap out the tranny mount. i get out ,go over to the 6cyl/C-5 tranny on floor on the other side of shop.i get mount. go back to bumble bee. i get under car. take crown vic tranny mount off,install the fox body.
then it hits me! i'm laying on the floor under this car.which is under the 4 post hoist. that is holding up casper(82cougarXR7). some times, i'm not the brightest bulb in the shop.
well at 9pm the5.0&AOD in.
(http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/708160/fullsize/bumble-bee.-005.jpg)
time to clean up mess i made. call it a night.
meh, i used to double stack my bay at the dealership all the time. every once in a while id get a nosey customer complain that thier car might get crushed. id jus tell them i spend all day standing under cars on the lift.....if it was gonna crush their car, i wouldnt be standing under it at all.
as long as the lift's safety locks are in working order, i wouldnt even worry about it.
today it was 30 above . so after work today and being my son taxi cab, fixing supper for my son,the dog and me. i was able to get out to the tharapy room, for some me time.
i started about 6pm .
1- i drop the old gas tank. that was 3/4 full of course. drained it out and cleaned any old junk that was in it. the tank had no rust of any kind!!!so i can re use:D the tank, if it stay carb on her.
2- flush fuel line incase i will reuse it.
3- installed axtra sway bar, i had just wanting to go on something.
4- pulled the old 1982-7.5 out. then reinstall the 1986 turbo bird 7.5 with 3.45 traction look and 10inch brakes plus the rear springs from the 88GT .
here photo with the old 2.45 open 7.5 still in her;
(https://www.supermotors.net/getfile/708412/fullsize/bumble-bee..-001.jpg)
here the photo with the 86 turbo bird rear;
(https://www.supermotors.net/getfile/708413/fullsize/bumble-bee..-002.jpg)
at 11pm,i figure i would call it a night because i have to be to work tomarrow from 4 pm to 8 pm and i feel some more QUALITY TIME NEEDED in the morning.
sorry to some of you that have lost your jobs. hope the new ring master that in the big top, over in washington,DC. Will get the USA back into good times soon.
here a up date on the bumble bee;
yesterday, my son figured he would share his flu with me. so me and the toilet have been the best of friends.which is ok because it is daytona week after all.
when i had the hood on her. the crown vic A/C bracket wouldn't let the hood shut close. so i pulled off the front brackets to install foxbody one. while i was at it ,i pulled the cast iron exhaust manifolds to put on some shorty headers.;
(https://www.supermotors.net/getfile/708621/fullsize/bumble-bee...-001.jpg)
(https://www.supermotors.net/getfile/708622/fullsize/bumble-bee...-002.jpg)
then i did spend about 3 hrs trying to fine the rest of the EFI parts from the crown vic , with no luck:mad:. with high only 20 above out side for that last two days and my shops have no bath room. i could not take going from warm shop to cold out side ,back to warm house every 30 minutes or so. i called it day.
for now! she will stay as a carb car. so i can get her to be a driver . when i can find the missing EFI parts then i will see about converting the 5.0 back to EFI.
Lots O Work, kinda reminds me of my 5.0 swap into my TC...
BTW the Fox Stang/Capri never used the 250(nor did the Fairmont/Zephyr), that block is taller than the 200 and Ford figured there wasn't enough hood clearance... AFIK the earlier non-Fox Granada/Monarch were the last to use the 250...
