A tornado 1/2 mile wide JUST touched down 5 miles from here heading north of us.More storms coming.Wow,that's crazy.Gotta love Oklahoma (and Kansas).
Holy .......
Why do yo live there!
Get out
Hang in there, Vinnie you might be in for a rough roller coaster ride tonght pal. !!!!!
I'm staying off the phone (in case I get an emergency call). The winds about 10 miles from here are said to up to 200 mph (yes,I said 200).Oklahoma is still a good place to live.Occasional tornadoes, and wicked hot heat (117 degrees and 95% humidity last summer).Aaaaah, home sweet home. It's raining now,and heavy winds.nasty stuff right now.
Remember to stay in the root cellar. If Toto wants to go back in the house, screw him. You just stick with Aunti Em.
We're good here.5 miles from us,not so good.Lots of damage.I haven't heard a status report yet.I'll be watching for one.It was 1/2 mile wide and went on for a lot of miles.

I got golf ball size hail last night from the same system. Had to run out and throw blankets on all the cars.
Well I got a weird story regarding this. The only tornado ever in my area.. was in 1996, and it ripped off one of the screens in our drive-in, that was actually supposed to be playing the movie "Twister" that night.
Ardmore is less than 10 miles from Lone Grove...
Anybody got Vin's # who can call to see if he and his family are safe?
I got it. But he sent me a PM at 7 this morning
Guess he' ok then.....his profile says his last activity was 7:10 am today.
he also posted in this tread at around that time and specifically said he's OK, perhaps look at page 1 ;)
Update: Vinnie's family is safe and sound plus he's at work right now...according to his son alex it was a scary evenning last night. :poke:
I totally missed that post :brick:
LOL I figured you did :)
I'm glad he's ok, and working already.. If it were me I would have taken the day off due to "Life-Is-Too-Short-Thoughts-After-Potential-Death" Syndrome.
See, now I wonder....if you were used to Tornadoes, would you take the day off?
It's like people who are used to snow....
For example, it once snowed 2 inches and then iced over in NJ when I was there while in the USAF. Being from New York, I went to work without issue or incident. Now at the time I lived OFF base about 15 miles away. When I got to work many of the folks I worked with who had grown up in southern areas were calling and saying that they were snowed in. NO JOKE! I remember2 of them living ON BASE about a mile and a half from the hangar.
Oh yeah,I'm good.I have yet to drive over to Lone Grove to see the damage. It is pretty bad from what I have seen on the local news.Tornadoes are just a part of life here. From now until September or so there will be a LOT of Tornado watches/warnings on the TV.I'd rather live with that than the snow you guys get up north.I suppose it's just another day if you're brought up with it.People here would kill themselves if it snows like that.Heck,an inch and people are all over the roads and in the medians. do feel sorry for the people who lost their lives over there last night.I'm sure there will be more people found as time goes by.There's a lot of trees and country around here.A lot,and they are finding people that were thrown quite a distance from their homes.Bad stuff.
Glad your safe. You probably were worried about the green bird.
What kind of shelter did you make,Pics coming?
I will probably grab a few Lone Grove pics tomorrow. It's really busy there now with rescue workers and cleaning up.I don't want to add to the pack of rubberneckers rolling by.The Bird was fine.We got nothing but a little rain and wind.easy.
I want the pics of you protecting your ride, lol.
Glad it all worked out .
Glad to hear you and your family are doing good . and the green bird too
Around here, most is normal.5 miles west, still searching for people and cleaning up.I feel for those folks. It was an F-4 tornado,F-5 being as bad as it can get.
I don't miss that about KS. I drove through Greensburg about a year after their big tornado and the whole town is still wiped out.
Here's a funnel that formed near right over my head in 2004...
That was he year we had a tornado warning every day here for about a week and a half. I saw another funnel...but I'll be ed if I had time to take a snap of it, I was busy haulin' ass for my basp00get.
This one in the pic never touched down, but it hung down for about 20 miles while it tracked with the storm system.
