Title: coil-over Stuts and shocks Will they work?
Post by: MeanGene on March 28, 2005, 01:10:23 AM
This is great, I have been looking for suspension mods, but every time I go to buy something I find nothing for a T-bird. Then when you talk to any sales person they won't tell you it will fit. Since you almost always have to buy a Mustang part for your T-bird, can anyone tell me what year fits what?

I am really thinking of going to coil-overs, but I hesitate as I am not sure if they will work. Anyone know if the link below would work and what model of Mustang would be most comparable to my 88 Fox Body T-bird?

yes it will fit... i would get the kit for 94-up Mustangs. you'll need 87-88 TC/87-93 Mustang GT spindles for the struts. only thing you need to change is the caster/camber plates. they have T-Bird specific ones.

I have the spindles off a 90 GT for the 11" rotor upgrade.  I have talked to the guys at MaximumMotorSports and the one thing they felt was the first thing any fox body chassis owner should do is the sub-frame connectors. You should do this before any other chassis modification. http://www.maximummotorsports.com/sfc.asp  Sounds like a good idea and they make one for T-birds.

if you have a thunderbird, one of the first things you do is get the castercamber plates! if you don't have them, look at how much the mounts move when you jack the car up or press down on the front end. now, think how bad the alinement goes out around a hard turn.

oh yeah, subframes too.:D

The Coil over kit comes with the caster plates, you can't use the MMS coil overs without it.
