Title: exhausting
Post by: t3skidoo on February 01, 2009, 08:23:58 PM
Got a tailpipe installed.  After the motor and trans go in, I'll get the everything else done.

The low point is about 4" off the ground, not so good.  It really is tucked up, pretty good.

There's a temporary pipe connecting the old exhaust to the new.  It's d so I can drop the IRS without messing with the whole exhaust.  At least that was the idea.  He welded a mount to cradle so that's going to have to be fixed somehow.

not everyone lives where you do so some can get away with side pipes, others can afford the ticket.

I haven't been able to get a straight answer on a side exit in front of the rear wheel.  There are a few areas of the law open to interpretation.  An oval pipe on the passenger side in front of the rear tire was my first plan.

According to the inspector, it's got to be after the axle and out the side or back.  He's probably an idiot, but he's the one punching the ticket, so he calls the shots.

its been a long time since stock pipes came out the side.  I think the cuda was the last i recall doing this in stock form.  Pipes were exposed down the sides with a heat shroud over the pipe.  Some do it and get away with it but  If i were to do sides, there would be a fitting under the front seats so i could install the "over the axle" out the tail end pipes just for inspections.

V8demon posted a pic of a really sweet side pipe exit recently.
