Title: confused- input shafts
Post by: grutinator on January 29, 2009, 05:18:17 PM
so i have a quick question before i buy this input shaft. correct me if anything i say is wrong.... im gonna replace the 3-4 input shaft, now a 3-4 shaft will accept both a lock-up and a non lock-up converter. but if i want to run a non lock up converter, can i just throw one in with this hardened 3-4 shaft? or will i need to replace evreything with a new one piece shaft? i think the 3 and 4 gears are lock up and 1-2 dont so idk if converter type will affect anything if the 3-4 shaft accepts both. it may be confusing, im having trouble trying to explain what i mean. basically i just want to know if i use the 3-4 shaft below, with a non lock up converter will everything be ok?

My understanding from speaking to the guys at Lentech: if you go with a non-lockup converter, you need to go with a one piece input shaft.  Someone else may chime in with specific experience.

The ONLY non lockup converter you can run with the above(which is identical size to orig), is one designed to be used with the original setup... B&M did market these, dunno if they still do... For a conventional non lockup, the complete front shaft assembly must be replaced...
