Title: i've got a question
Post by: LumpyCheeseman on January 10, 2009, 08:53:30 PM
why do we not have a chatroom?

i'm on dozens of other forums, and the most populated ones all have chatroom.

i think it would be awesome for us all to be able to chat live.

just curious what other forums you might belong to. I know about turbotbird, but anything else for our cars?

Two answers: One, because I don't know how to integrate a chat room. Two, because this forum is sucking just about every spare CPU cycle the hosting service offers, and a chat room would slow it down too much.

where is this hosted anyway?  50webs.com has some seriously hardcore options for some seriously cheap prices.

one forum example is grandmarq.net, and i would list the others, but you would call me extreme and likely ban me.

Well quite honestly we moved the board once, to this host, and it was a pain in the ass. So right now I think we're just in an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" state of mind.

Besides there is a lot of chat programs out there that we all have (2 of which you already found me on ;) ) so there's really no need for one on here.

Hate to get off topic, but since the "ain't broke, don't fix it" comment was brought up, this forum is one of the slower forums I use despite it's smaller size. If it ain't broke, it may be on it's last legs! I don't mean to complain, as I've offered to help and even did help Sammy by suggesting the plugin for the spam account issue. Moving a vB-based forum such as this should not be a task, unless you don't have the proper access (such as SSH access).

But I will admit it's been a bit better than it priorly was. Hopefully it remains.
