Post by: Tapkin on January 08, 2009, 10:42:25 AM
Hi, i have 87't-bird 5.0 with stock 7.5 rearaxle. And also have an opportunity to buy whole rearend from sn95 3.8. I want to swap them. Is it possible with out modding mounting places and so on?
And whats the difference between diff ratio?

Thanks.

It's a drop-in mountingwise.  You planning on swapping to discs? More work needed there(with mastercylinder, proportioning block, etc)  Either way, the brakelines between the body/axle will need to be dealt with.

No idea on the ratios...should be on the tags.  The SN95 7.5 is probably a 3.27 or 3.45.

He's also in Russia, so I'm sure choices are limited.

Yes, I want discs and 5lug. I'am not afraid of work with brakelines and cylinder if I can use sn95 parts.

My way:
Rearend body- fox 7.5 with quad shocks;
Half-shafts- modified sn95; Disk brakes (discs, calipers)- sn95, but сarrier plates should be modified.
Bushings: energy susp.
Process :)

"Fox" what? "Fox" covers a bunch of cars, with 4 different wheel bases, from '78-'93.

Your TBird is a Fox-chassied car.

It looks like you used the shorter Mustang (Fox or SN-95)
rear control arms.  Both are shorter than the TBird ones.

We say as such, because from a couple of the pics, it looks like the rear wheel is a bit far forward in the wheel well, which is what would happen if the Mustang arms are used.

OK, well then it just must be the camera angle that makes things look odd.
