Title: And so.......The fun Begins!!!!
Post by: V8Demon on March 25, 2005, 10:03:19 AM
Well, some of my parts came and I just HAD to put them on/use them.  My cold air intake came from JLT along with an SCT Xcalibrator Flash tuner with a cutom tune designed for an 05 GT Auto with this intake.  The tune is a must....without it she'll run to lean with the new intake kit on.  Total upgrade with tune and intake:  About 30 HP according to a few different sources.  If so it's the easiest 30 HP I ever put on a car!

"Cold air intake" and it's open under the hood? Ouch. Does it come with a magic source of actual cold air, too? :D

Well, at least it looks good. Blue's growin' on me as a car color.. but having two blue cars might have something to do with that..

The tube looks real good.  Is the powerdyne going on the stang, or cougar?

Hey thats what they call it :hick: Here's a dyno graph.  The baseline #s seem lower than other stock auto's I've seen on the net though.  Most are baselining around 245HP/270TQ

I'd still be skeptical of any "cold air intake" that doesn't actually draw air in from outside the engine compartment. I may not know nearly as much about cars as some around here, but one thing I do know is that the air in the engine compartment of my car is never cold when it's running for more than a few minutes.

Is that graph from their website?

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the stock intake tube have a perforated paper element just after the air filter? (for emission purposes)  I think thats part of the reason you pick up so much hp.

True, but the hole in the fenderwell for the stock airbox makes the one on our cats and birds seem huge!  That and the swiss cheese looking vapor collector in the stock inlet tube lead me to believe that it would have to be better than the stock piece.  The Powerdyne is gonna go on the Coug.  Gonna wait for a blower on the Mustang.  My headers and axle back kit should be here today(not holding my breath...been waiting 3.5 weeks for that stuff!) and then I'm off for a Dyno tune next week!
