Title: Window wars...
Post by: Haystack on December 30, 2008, 07:06:41 PM
My window fell into the door today while I was sitting at a light. I'm going to try the window weld from 3m. I hear its stronger then stock. Wish me luck.

I used a white epoxy stick made for marine use.It is weather resistant, water resistant, and has held mine for 4 years now.Scuff the window glass up with some sandpaper where the epoxy stick is going to adhere, then just twist a piece of the epoxy stick off, knead it until the color is uniform, jam it into the little window clip and press the window in.After it dries,it's not coming back apart, period.I bought mine at Wal-Mart.I have also seen it at Autozone. It comes in a small tube.

Do that, and you'll only do the job once.

better get that thing near some heat, cure time on the product is limited by temp ranges.

Ive had to do it twice on the white coug, used regular silicone, works fine.

tried it cold... Didn't work at all and I could barely get it out of the tube. Brought it inside and put in in the sink and ran it under hot water then glued it on the dinning room table. After about 30 minutes, I physically cannot move it. I'm going to see how accurate my markings are right now...

I was off by 1/4 inch or so on the front clip. I'm tired today so it will stay for a while. Although that 3m stuff is messy, I'll bet it holds alot better then any other glue I could think of. It turns rock hard after about 1 hour. I just took a bead and put it along the clip, then I squished the clip in. Good as new. I also now know why my power locks don't work, so the door panel is staying off for now. I hate whoever had this car before me. Duct tape on the window, cut wires in the door, and almost all the screws are missing from the door panel. Also, they cut the door to get to the window to duct tape it...
