Title: strut/shock choice
Post by: mcb82gt on December 08, 2008, 12:02:14 PM
Lemme see if I got this right.

When I upgrade my front brakes to 87+, 11".

My strut choices:
 87+ mustang, till what year?
                                      ? 87-88 turbocoupe
? would sn95 stuff be a better choice?

87 to 93 same.
when i put the bigger brakes on mine .i reuse the struts that where on it because they where less than year old.
all you have to do is put a shims where the spndle and strut bolt together. thats how edelbrock got there struts to fit both 5.0 and non 5.0.
mine, i just cut off  the lower mounts off some old struts( that i had in the trash) and use them for shims. been working 10 yrs.

94-2003 years;
are the same style strut just longer travel so ford could have the 4X4 looks on those years.

doing some searching.... looks like the SN95 stuff works fine.

They have a more diverse choice too.

Anyone ever run bilsteins on stock springs?  Wondering about ride quality.

The shocks are a little bit short. There is a chart that was posted about all the strut choices for mustangs. With an adapter sold by Chuckw you can get any of them to work.

I thought the " shorter" problem was with the 87-93 mustang stuff, and the SN95 stuff was OK?

Anybody?

sn-95 stuff is still off. Its closer, but still off. If your droping the car a couple of inches it might work.

Rear shocks, I could just buy cougar stuff,

What about the fronts, I dont want to buy new mounts.

Will the sn95 struts fit fine on the front, with no modifications to the car?

Good information there, I about through out the old '89 mustang struts when I went to 90/10's on it. Good to know I can reuse them on the bird and not waste a good set of struts.
