when following my son in his 1986 turbo-bird. i notice the passenger wheel was not running true. so checking it out and found it had bent axle . i thought. no problem,i have a spare in the shop to replace it with.
well after pulling his out ,i went looking for the spare. after 2 weeks looking ,i give up:mad: .
do any one of you have axtra one for 1983 to 86thunderbird/cougar 7.5 on the paasenger side?
got one in the t-bird at work, 7.5 drum brake
how much plus shipping to 59405?
There are different axles in the 7.5's
83-85
86-88
this one is a '84...no dice then
OK?you would think 83 to 86 where the same because they are the same body!
and you would think 87 to 88 are the different because the 87/88 body is different than 83 to 86 body?
well ,i got the tag off my rear end and it says;
V4978
3L45 7.5 5818
can any body tell me what year this 7.5 is?
86Tbuzzard:
if you can measure yours. mine from the to the end of the spline is 30inch's and from to C-clip is 29 3/4inch's. then yes, i would like to get yours.please let me know.
Nope...we've covered this time and time again here on the forum.
The "body" has nothing to do with it.
The switch was @ some point in late '85. The only way to be sure is to measure.
See the chart in this post HERE (http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showpost.php?p=138359&postcount=12) The overall axle length will be the same, but the distance to the bearing race is the issue.
from hollander interchange:
thunderbird/cougar 83-84
thunderbird/cougar 85 stamped 35-AA (thru 1/85)
Just measure them...
i keep try to open the chart but theres nothing??????????????????????????????????
Works for me.
The axle end to bearing race distances are as follows:
83-85 25.75" to 27.19"
86-88 26.63 to 28.38"
The 86-88 7.5 axle housing is wider by approx 3/4" per side, thus the bearings are in a different spot on the axles. The overall length of the axles is the same.
