when i shift the car there seems to be a whistling/sucking air sound coming from somewhere in, on, or near the steering column/shifter. ive never heard of this happening before. The transmission shifts into gear fine however when driving it seems to have a loss of power. Anyone know what the air sound could be and if the two could be related? Thanks in advance for all the help.
Just for more info, it only happens when you shift from park to a drive gear, dosent happen in nuetral
The automatic parking brake release has a vacuum leak.
so that really wouldnt hurt the tranny at all?
It has nothing to do with the tranny.
It is a vacuum valve, operated by the shifter. The vacuum operates a "vacuum motor" that releases the brake.
very good internet troubleshooting. Keep up the good work!
Yeah mine did that too....if it you off...go to the vacuum tree right near the brake booster....the...white thin hard plastic one Im 90% sure...unplug that, CAP OFF the spot on the tree it came from...no more hissing.
The release in my Crown Vic works perfectly and doesn't hiss but I never need it...kinda cool but ya know not necessary and it's bothersome :hick:
Nah, it dont bother me at all just trying to figure out reasons why the transmission seems to be lacking power
see if your e-brake is on. I haven't had any problems not noticing it myself though.
e brake is busted - the pedal just goes to the floor
mine goes to the floor but it works :hick:
:dunce:
