Good morning folks. Took the Bird out last night for a quick spin. Took a few turns and parked it. Noticed oil spewing out of the pass. side adjustable Koni.
Has anyone sent their Konis for rebuilding? If so, who did you use, and how was the finished product?
Thanks!
Chris
Chris,
I haven't had to send mine in yet, but if I did I would just send them directly to Koni N.A. (859)586-4100
BTW, if your interested, Koni can also convert your rear shocks so that they are externally adjustable with a on the outside of the shock tube so that they don't have to removed from the car to be adjusted.
wow, look who showed back up!!
Thanks! I saw that Koni can now do that. The rear Konis on my car are for a 1980 Thunderbird if I recall correctly. That would be a great thing to do. I don't like having to unbolt them to adjust them.
Jcass-I've been here, just haven't had much to say! Spent this year taking the other car to various tracks.
you still have the white celica?
Any idea how much that costs?
140 bucks to restore each strut. 280 total to make them good as new. Going to send all of the sets of Konis I have for the Bird and the race car to the shop at Infineon Raceway.
800 bucks for the rears to convert to double externally adjustable.
Here's the three places that Koni offers up:

I've used True Choice for other stuff-always very good.

I just might go with these guys. Spoke to them today-seemed very intelligent.
Here's the other shop:

Thanks for the info.
You're welcome.
I called Koni NA today and spoke to them. Prices are just about the same. Confirmed they they do sandblast, repaint and re-sticker the struts. Price would be around 180-190 per strut for usual cases.
He also said the other places are just as good as Koni as far as rebuilding them goes.
Also asked him about my strut- 8641L-1012. Said it appears to be a 1985 style strut and the "L" was a mid-80's shipping term Koni used. It means nothing for the end user.
It would be nice if I could keep track of important receipts, like the stuff with lifetime warranties. I'm sure that doesn't include getting modified to double adj external, but still it would be nice to get the fronts rebuilt.
