Ive got a few of the sections of the numbers not lighting up. The computer economy side is fully lit, but one segment of the number is missing.
Also have a few "white" specs showing through on the gauge side of the cluster.
What can be done to fix this? Or is it just something you have to live with??
I have never taken these clusters apart.
Mike
that sounds more like a cluster issue than a light bulb problem.
Id say pull your cluster and wiggle test the flex pring on the rear with the key on. Start touching different spots and see if the rest of the 7 segment led's light up.
that is what you are saying, correct?,, the 7 segment led's that make up different numbers are not completely lighting up?
i had almost the same problem with mine lighting up, shine a flashlight to the gauges that arent working, if you can see the lcd but its not lighting up, then its most likely bulbs. As far as the white specs, never heard of that one.
Notice the section missing in the "zero" number on the right. And the 4 specs shining through on the left side?

Ive never had the star wars cluster apart yet but that symtom inst bulb related.
gotta get in there and do what i said before.
yea i missunderstood what you said:hick: i agree with jcassity, it dosent seem bulb related. Mine has those little specs in them too
Well... these things are 20+ years old.
Maybe they're liver spots;)
when you do the wiggle test,
set your radio to AM on any station like in the low band.
when you run into an intermittant or bad connection, the speakers will pop.
I have a similar cluster that I got in a "lot" of parts on ebay. It is for parts only, but I'll bet you could swap out the sections that do not work. I'll check today to see if it looks to be the same cluster. In the mean time do some wiggling like they say above.... I'll PM you when I find it and confirm that it is the same. If so, and you need it I'm sure I can work something out with you since the one in my car is completely different that yours and I'll never use the parts.
I'm pretty sure that after testing, using the procedures in the shop manuals, a missing digit like that required a replacement module. I don't believe that's user-fixable.
For the left side, it looks like you have some pinholes in the green plastic filter in front of the LCD display. That could probably be very carefully replaced...although a complete module replacement for that side would be a lot easier and less risky.
Yep... I've got one, man. It was sold to me as parts, and I cannot verify that it works....and I cannot verify that it does not work, however I can get it to you for cheap. I'll PM you some pictures.
Yep, hate to say it, but you're cluster fvcked...
