I tried switching my cornering lamp relays to the relays from a 1995 Taurus relay block, but instead of coming on staying on, they would blink with the turn signal. I switched them back to the original relays afterward, but I'm still curious about why it didn't work. Does anyone know anything about them? My gut is telling me that maybe there's an internal capacitor across two of the leads inside, but I tried putting a large electrolytic cap across the leads and that didn't do anything. I didn't feel like tearing one apart and I was too lazy to run an electrical cord all the way out to the street and hook up the oscilloscope (and I doubt it would have told me anything anyway). Anyone have any ideas?
I'm still keeping the relay block handy since it would be a great replacement in the event that any other relays fail (autolamp, auto-dim, door locks, etc.), but this one has me puzzled. If and when I finish my Speed Control dash light mod the relays will come in handy there too since I'll need one to trip the light (I'm still trying to find that ed speed control amp).
