Title: One small step closer.....
Post by: vinnietbird on November 05, 2008, 06:49:27 PM
I mounted my brand new Hella lights on the brackets.I sand blasted the brackets and painted them a while back. The harness came with the lights along with hardware, relay, and switch. It's a great setup for my Sport which didn't come with fog lights.I'll mount them after the car is painted.I'm about 2/3 finished with the bodywork.

Losing those steel brackets was the best part about buying aftermarket fog lights for my TC. The pair has to weigh 10lb+.

Looks good though.

I can't wait to resurrect my old bosh lights.

I thought about swapping brackets, but 10 pounds is nothing. It's a daily driver, and the front of my car is wicked high after the 5 speed swap, smog delete, new exhaust,a/c delete.Plus, they are a "bolt on".

Yeah, since mine was always a 5-spd, it doesn't hurt the stance of my car to loose a little weight. Still, talk about an over-engineered 'fastener'. It is about four times bigger and who knows how many times heavier than the light it holds in place. :D

Btw, mine were bolt-ons too.......... after I drilled a few holes. ;)

I kind of like the sturdy bracket idea due to the fact that so many of these cars have been nosed into some incline or whatever, and they'll protect the lights well........not that I plan to bust up my Sport.LOL.
