Title: Premium sound issues - no power.
Post by: xjeffs on November 01, 2008, 03:43:12 PM
I have two 88 Cougar XR7s neither of which have a radio installed.

I'm trying to get the premium sound cassette with equalizer going and I'm getting backlight power but no power to the radio or equalizer. My haynes manual calls out a red wire with an eye connector to hook up.  Both cars have this wire.  Where do I hook this up.  There is no post to put it on.  Is there a spade ground to attach to both stereo and equalizer?

Thanks

The Red wire just attaches to the bolt on the back of the radio that also mounts the support bracket...

Really...  I'm used to red being 12 volts, and not used to 12 volts being hooked to ground.

Thanks

Leave it to Ford to use red for ground... The fuel pump uses a orange wire as ground...
