its a '86 Mustang GT with an AOD. i got it not running, no title, and lots of rust on the roof and hatch. it took a good distributor and a fuel pump to get it running. and now the trans is ****ed. ive got another AOD that has some good parts, so im hoping i can make 1 good trans out of the 2.
i then plan on taking the drivetrain out of the '86, and putting it in a '80 coupe rolling chassis, that ill be buying for $100. :) it has a clear title, clean body, and welded subframes. i should be picking it up on Sunday.
i forgot to mention the 86 GT has a MAC catback, O/R h-pipe, CAI, extra set of 10 holes w/ tires, and a brand new optima battery.
and pics of the '80.....
VERY VERY NICE!! Hopefully you are leavin that nose on the 80! :D Looks like an awsome project that so far has nice prices involved!!
LOL I was just going to ask if he was swapping the 86 bumper on the 80. I never liked the grills like that.
im keeping the '80 tail lights, but undecided about the front bumper cover. i like the 85/86 bumpers, but i kinda want to keep it somewhat original looking on the outside.
79-82 nose > 85-86 nose
Definitely!!! Old school ftw!!!!
Awesome score !!!! I need to get out more often. This is a good time of the year to find deals .People sell off everything before Christmas. Speaking of selling things, how much would you take for the intake plate off of the '86? I'd like to put that on my Sport.
I miss my 86.
Man, you got that right. 82GT > than all other.:beatyoass:
NO NO NO NO my friend!! You missunderstood me!! I am ALL about the older nose!! You hardly EVER see those anymore and its nice when you do see one to see one that is taken care of and loved!! My vote is DEFINATLY for the old nose!!
Another for the '80 nose. It'll be a lot cooler looking and unique these days.
80 all the way. And get a "Flock of Seagulls" haircut.
made the 4hr drive last night with a friend to pick up the coupe. no surprises so far with the condition of the car.
oh, and this car was originally ORANGE!
EDIT: paint code is 2G, which is Bright Bittersweet
Definitely paint it that color! That looks good.
i might paint it the same color as the engine is in the t-bird(Azure Blue), because the wife doesnt like the orange, and she'd rather see it in Azure Blue.
Man I love those Capris....especially that one in that orange. Wow I want that LOL.
What? You southern guys are spoiled. THIS is lots of rust!
Can i take the lightning and you can keep all the Mustangs?
I knew what you meant, I was just getting ready to side for the 86 when you asked if he was keeping the 80.
I've seen people driving cars like that :hick:
I'm sure you have because I got that Rustang from Chicago! :D
Yeah it snowed here yesterday and I'm suprised that they didn't salt :hick:
i like you orange coupe but i have something like your coupe;
it was on it way to be crushed;
it had
no engine
no tranny
the hood look like some one 300 lb mother inlaw sat in the middle of it.
the front bumper was pulled completely in two.
rear bumper was hanging on only by the bolts on the gas tank side and duck tape on the other side
the driver rear panel washiznit behind the wheel opening to the point it was against the truck floor.
the 7.5 rear end was ground down on the pavement! on the driver side to the point the lower control arm came loose.
the front rotors where so far worn ,they stop turn when the cooling fins lock into there caliper.
this inside look like they where keeping it as dog house.
this capri should NOT have been save but i wanted the bubble back window for extra for my maroon 1986 capri i had. they only way i was going to get that window was to buy the hole car and out bid the wrecking yard.
after i had her on the trailer striped of all the extra parts i might need for the other 86 capriGS5.0. i had a one of those things called a idea like"hey stuped, it factory orange". so i put everthing i took off plus what mustang stuff i had around to get her to look like she looked like as a runner.
right now she waiting to be painted from 03/2005

i'm held up because i can't make up my mind about capri/4eyes/aero front and rear bumpers.
a few updated pics....
i removed all the chrome/polished trim, and washed it for the 1st time ive had it. :D
a couple more....
So what are the plans as of now?
a little body work, sand, and paint.
matching wheels :hick:
Get it done?
Afraid not. Only had a couple of hours to mess with it today. I would like to get it done this month. I will be painting it myself. Most likely using single-stage paint and a $25 paint gun.
What color you thinking? I like those little notchbacks if I could find one for cheap i'd buy one real quick.
the same color that my '88 t-bird was painted. Azure Blue('03/'04 Mach 1 color)

Ooh, I always liked that color. That should look great. What were you thinking for powertrain? 302 5-speed? I'm a fan of the old Fox four eye stangs, before everyone bought all the aerostangs that I think are boring.
351w/AOD or 4R70W

Nice man I wish you luck!
i think i did a pretty good job. LOL!
i wanted to test my $20 paint gun, so i had a fender that was bad to test on....
needless to say, it fell over from a gust of wind after the 2nd coat.
Needs to be sanded but not too bad.
i took the gun outta the box, set the press. to 40psi, filled the cup, and started spraying. when i finished the 2nd coat, i noticed my press. dropped to 25psi. i had never held a paint gun in my life, and will probably use this panel to learn how to use.
Keep an eye on air pressure it should stay pretty constant or it may bleed halfway through. But like i said it really doesnt ook that bad. Other than it needs to be mowed.:makefun:
play with the fluid control some, lay that paint on a tad bit wetter. It'll reduce the peel a bit then wet sand it with some 1500
looks good man
