Title: Single Piece Headlight Lens for 87 TC
Post by: CustomT on October 27, 2008, 08:56:22 AM
What I am looking to do is replace the lenses on my 87 TC.  I like the look of the GTS Styling Lens Covers (Carbon Fiber) and I know I can get them for the TC but, these are for show and not street legal.  What I want to do is use this type of lens cover to replace the stock covers I currently have.

Doese anybody know what can be used and where I could get them.  Reading the info on the GTS lenses, they state that they are for show only and not for road use.  Suggestions anyone?

the reason behind them being for show and not street is probably because they are tinted which hinder's light penetration with the headlight... here in oregon i beleive we can run them on the street when headlights are not neccesary (ie. good weather during the day)
 just my thought...

Thet dont replace your lenses. they cover them. Clip, screw, taped, or velcoed on so you can pull them off if needed

Yes I know they go over my current lenses, what I am wanting to do is replace my lenses with something like the GTS covers.  Don't know if somebody had done something like this or not and if so, what did they do?

Im not really sure what you want to do i have the smoke headlight covers from GTS for my 88 TC, and they are not street legal. If you wanted to smoke the headlight itself it would still be illegal because the light from the front of your car has to go a certain amount of feet in front of the car. i took some pictures of the light output with them on and with them off at night so you can see the difference but i would not drive with them at night or when you need them. Mine are just for shows.

What I am wanting to do is replace my lense covers (headlight, park light and blinker) with one solid lense cover like the GTS Styling covers in clear or carbon fiber.

I dont think that you can do that because as stated by DVP they dont replace your light covers. There are no aftermarket lights that you can purchase like you might find for a mustang or any other car.

It could be done. Finding them in clear might be kind of hard. Then making the housings look good behind the lense. Alot of work but would look really nice
