my 3.8 is knocking, it happens when the engine is up to temp, and i rev up the engine it knocks really bad as the rpm is slowing down, whats up
do you have oil pressure when its up to temp?
That kind of noise is hard to diagnose online...i'd get a stethoscope or a really long screwdriver and use it to listen all over the engine. start with each lifter and slowly move to each one til you hear a different tone. Do the same on the bottom with each rod journal. I'd remove all the belts to eliminate any possible accessory noise. If you dont want to do all that take it to a mechanic and pretend you want him to fix it, get an estimate then fix what he says is wrong(assuming you trust the mechanic). That's not very cool but heh, lifes tough at the moment.

Add thicker oil and roll on with it till she locks up.
Either way, sounds like bearings. You said knock and not many people mistake a "knock" for a Tick or tap.
Did it just start or has it been doing it for a bit?
3.8.... thats the problem. That knock is the sound of a 302 in your future... LOL
I have to agree with you man. My 3.8 ran great, and I yanked it out and am putting in a nice 302. boo-yah, :burnout:
