I'm putting a 351w in my 87 Cougar with 500 or so horses and as much torque. I have an 87 Turbo coupe rear and I want to put aftermarket 31 spline axles in it. I have 2 questions: Has anyone here put 94-98 Mustang axles in a TC rear any can verify that they fit ? And does anyone know of a locker or posi differential that would work with 35 spline axles ( my preference ) ? my engine combo is ported Vic jr heads Comp solid roller .624/.640 .230/.236 @ .050 112. I can't decide weather to keep the stock cubes or go with a 410 stroker either way compression is 10.5 to 1
Ask thundr306 he's good with all that axle stuff.
do a search, as this has been covered several times.
Just out of curiousity, is that 351W verified at 500 hp and torque? or are these estimates? Not knocking the numbers, just wondering....as I have a 351W sitting on a stand waiting for a rebuild. I was expecting closer to 350 hp/ft lbs with swapping heads and intake.
YEs they fit...same housing width and same axle length.
With heads and cam he listed figure at least 425Hp... This assumes a good induction and exhaust system...
I'm going by other builds including the one in the latest Engine Masters. I spoke to the builder of that 351w and being as I have a bigger cam and similar heads i figure to make close to that 536 hp with 351 cubes. With the 408 and Total Engine Airflow ported heads and a cam with a little more duration I think 500 plus is a gurantee.
Port matched Weiand Stealth intake BG carb and 3" exhaust have'nt decided on the lers yet.
