Title: 8.8 TurboCoupe Axle Swap
Post by: 88BlueBird on October 10, 2008, 12:34:35 PM
I picked up an 8.8 TurboCoupe axle with 3.73 gears and rear discs. Has anybody here swapped one of these in place of the 7.5? I would like to know what you recommend for a Brake Booster, Master Cylinder, and Prop Valve. for the swap. My car currently has the factory rear drum brakes.

Yes several people have swapped them and even made threads about it.

Did you take the time to search?

Thanks Dominator. Where did you locate your adjustable prop valve? did you have to cut the brake lines to install the prop valve? Do you feel the upgrade to rear disks was worth it? I've thought about just installing my 7.5 axles, drums and backing plates on the 8.8 axle to make things easy.

Can you even do that? Wait I guess you could but why not just find a rear from an 88 XR-7?

That does not work for the 86-88 7.5 rears used in the Tbirds/Cougars.

Check out the 2 or 3 threads at the beginning of this section that already cover that.
