Thank you; at least SOMEONE said it...

How's it run while in gear with a load on the motor out of curiosity?

Yeah i replaced them a few weeks ago and the plugs. My power steering pump is really leaky ... i was wondering if a bad pump could put more stress on the motor but my belt doesnt squeak....

TPS?Timing?IAC?

Ive never touched the distributer, or messed with the timing. its always ran great...when its beeen running for a little while it will idle fine at red lights but when i hold the brake and turn the wheel, she stalls. im gonna do a compression check this weekend and see what happens, im really hoping that its not somthing bad like a bad valve or so... theres no lack of power at all just in low rpm it doesnt  run steady.

Is it blowing any smoke from the exhaust?Losing any water?Maybe a head gasket going bad......small,tiny leak.

could also be a slipped tooth on the timing... If you pull codes you'll be 90% more likely to get it fixed. I never pulled codes on my car and fought to get it fixed by replacing everything, and it ended up being a vac line on the map sensor. The difference is about 10mpg.

There IS a sensor for that.....Thunder Chicken had mentioned what it was called once before.  I can't even remember otherwise I'd find the link to the thread and post it for reference.

**EDIT**

I did find this:

If the engine stumbles only when turning the wheel, but recovers when the steering wheel is still, the idle kicker switch on the steering rack is not increasing the idle (via opening the IAC) to compensate for the power drawn by the power steering pump.

This failure occurs more likly the you would think. If the idle is not increased the power draw the pump creates can actually stall a five liter engine at low idle speeds.

I remember reading something about some replacement racks not having this switch as well...

AFIK no 5.0 had a pressure SW on the rack... Only used with those wimpy little motors...

Alright ill replace the kicker switch soon and see what happens....as for pulling codes... idont think it will work because when im at a light my speedo (copies) my tach until i start moving... Ex-if i idle at a grand in park my speedo will be in same position...around 30mph...so im gussing that would interfere with my codes... its not a short, just the way my dash is resting in the car...

Ive never seen a presure switch on any of our birds or cougars.
Ive often been curious about the step in pulling codes where you cut the wheel for this switch as well.

Take your belt off and run the car for a short period of time and see if the symptom changes.

also, after the engine is hot, take your belt off and see if your smog pump pully spins free.  If it does not, thats your power draw.
