What I am trying to do is install this DVD Stereo http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/Source/AV-Receivers/AVH-P4000DVD into my 87 TC. My question is this, I know I have the room but the cover plate will need to be modded. Has anybody installed something like this in their TC and if so, how or what did you do to mod the face plate? and if you have pics that would be nice.
I'm trying to keep it looking good not hacked up sort of thing.
Thanks
you'll have to cut it, plastic weld it, and then paint it or find some kind of overlay that matched. Check out http://www.mp3car.com/vbulliten
Might have mispelled that, but go to mp3car.com and then click on the forums tab. They have lots of how to's and faq's.
Just grab a couple of the center dash trim pieces from the salvage yard and practice on them. You can make a really nice factory looking piece to fit that radio no problem. Mp3car is good website, the12volt.com is good (go to forums) I'm sure there are others. It's actually fairly easy, so don't be intimidated by cutting up the trim piece and epoxying, fiberglassing and painting it to fit that radio, the results are worth it. Remember to take pics along the way and post them up :D
