Personally this doesn't matter to me. It's quick and it looks like ass and it's an import so nothing influences my opinion either way I'd still never hit it. ;) BUT apparently Porshce is saying they tested one themselves and can't come within 25 seconds of Nissan's time on the 'ring.

The R35 is waaaaaaay too bulky. It dwarfs the old skylines. I'd take an R32 any day of the week though.

I wouldn't hate on the VQ in any way shape or form. Especially a twin turbo VQ (why no turbo love for the Z?). I do, however, think that any car, a super high performance car to boot, that needs its transmission replaced after only 15 launches ON AVERAGE is a POS. (Nissan tells new owners to not expect the transmission to last any longer than 15 launches using the launch control FEATURE) I also hate a car with a black box that will void your warranty if you use the car AS INTENDED! If it had a blue oval or bowtie on it, it would be a world class POS, but no, it's just a car made for only those who can afford to fix it (I guess Nissan hasn't ever heard of BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Lotus, blah, blah, blah).
I officially do not like this car.

HOLY I totally forgot about that! Yeah if you use a FEATURE of the car as it was intended bye-bye to your warranty. Sweet!

The GT-R is probably the best/fastest car you can get in that price range hands down. I mean fastest from 0-60 and around the track. Also, Every GT-R engine is handmade so horsepower levels vary by about 20-30 HP. I would love to have one, Nissan did a great job!
also let me quote

What about all of the INDEPENDENT tests from automotive magazines and sources from Europe, Asia, and America in which the GT-R has always beaten the 911 turbo on the tracks? Are we to ignore all of them? LOL!

It's been speculated that the press cars given to car magazines have been "ringers"
Wouldn't be the first time something of that nature has happened...

its a good looking car. in 10 years it'll prolly be cheap enough to finally modify. thats the thing about the r32, if you can get one, you can mod the hell out of it. warranty issue etc. i myself would take a r33, love the r32, but the r34 seems too big and bulky, and i even humped one at a car show and had to run from security when i was like 14. lol. i could see owning one now and keeping it 1ill the warranty is out and then track only car if the magazine cars ARENT infact "ringers"

What' good is fast if it won't last? The most Nissan has gotten was 35 launches.
One of my techs just got back from a special Nissan training GTR deal. Here are some interesting Facts. -Can only launch the car 15 times before the transmission gives out. The most Nissan has got was 34 launches. -The fluid lists at 80 dollars a quart. It costs dealerships 49.99 a quart. The car takes 10 quarts. -The warranty depends on the driving, there is a black box in it just like an airplane. -Customers have to sign a waiver stating they will not complain about brake or transmission noise. -The brakes MUST be replaced at the same time, cost for replacing 6500. -If something goes wrong other than an oil change at the dealership, a special team needs to be called and your outta a car for a while.
So yea. Sounds promising. Sounds fast, for a couple of months.
Nissan specifically warns owners that they could void warranty protection by running a car with its vehicle dynamic control (VDC), governing traction and stability, turned off.

Meh I trust quality reviews from mags and tv shows before I trust a forum anyday. I guess we will just have to wait until more people drive them in the states.
I highly doubt Nissan would Fu*k this up after making high quality skylines and other cars for years.

I remain leery about any review.....It's amazing how the hottest car last year is now a dog because the advertising money is no longer flowing in......TTAC is one of the more fair-handed reviewers.... Reviews are good for hard fact comparison (dimensions/specs).....anything else is subjectively skewed by the author/reviewers perception.
Hell, even some facts have variables.....It's interesting just how different 0-60/1320' times can be between magazines.

I was sceptical too, but haven't heard Nissan deny anything since. All the blogs were running the black box story.
Then I saw this. The 'Transmission Assembly Replacement Record' page in the GTR's Owners Manual has 7 slots.
