Title: dipstick length

I need to know the length of a dipstick from a C5 out of a 86 cougar w/3.8L.  Does anyone know or able to go measure theres and let me know..

run a wire through till you hit bottom.

that number minus 1/8'' is probably a guess that will amaze you .

what about add length and full length? Im getting ready to fill the trans and may not have one by then?

the full heigth of the pan would be a good mark from the bottom of the wire up.

say your pan is 2 1/4'' deep, that would be the full mark on the end of the wire.

The fluid level measured down from the top of the fill tube with the engine running:
Room temperture fluid, 20 1/2" to 21 3/4"
Warmed to operating temp, 19 3/4" to 20 1/2"
