Title: From Summit to Canada
Post by: oldraven on March 18, 2005, 01:20:58 PM
Has anyone north of the border ordered parts from Summit, and if so, what kind of shipping charges should I be looking at? I'm looking at getting some brakes. Cross drilled and vented Power Stop rotors.

It's looking like $321 US ($386 CAD) with handling fee. Is this a good deal?

My suggestion would be have you tried lookin' through the Canadian Tire performance catalogue? you'd be surprised what you can actually order from CT

I'm just afraid that if I call Canadian Tire, I'll end up with a complete fool on the phone (you know that happens 95% of the time) who'll try to sell me 5 lug LX T-bird brakes. "4 cylinder T-bird, I think you're mistaken" :nono:

How does one go about getting one of their Performance catalogues?

or better yet, just buy the book and when you find what you want you call in and give them the part # then they can't even screw it up.as long as you give them the proper # and they write it down properly.

just checked the price on drilled rotors for an 87 t-bird in the CT key-stone book. they are 108.89$ each, part #P15AR8111L for left, and P15AR8111R for right dosen't list if they are 11" though.

Just look for 87-93 5.0 Mustang rotors. They'll be 11" and probably cheaper 'cuz there are so many more Mustangs around (even though the parts are the same)

If you import from summit you will likely be surprised at the amount of duty you will have to pay when you pick up your parts from the post office.  Research that amount before buying, because most american companies have no idea how much duty will be charged on an order.

depends on if he intends on keeping ABS or not, sure you can use a mustang part number, but you loose ABS

Exactly, the post office duty charge isn't too bad, but UPS will rape you dry.  :toilet:  You are much further ahead buying local, Mopac, Bestbuy, or The Mustang Shop, should all be able to compete with Summits pricing and the added bonus of no BS duty charges and ease of return/warranty. For instance on a $80 billet grille for my truck UPS's duty charge was $43.  :flame:

the mustang and t-bird have the same part# unless you go drilled and slotted for an extra 40$ each
