does a msd 6a, replace the duraspark box? or does it work in conjunction with it?...the cougar getting close to firing up, need to run lines!!! 3 years of waiting is almost over!!!

Yes, you disconnect the harness from the Duraspark box, but don't cut the connector off. Leave it on there so when the MSD fails, you can plug the Duraspark back up to get home.

Also instead of splicing into the Ford harness, MSD offers a harness that will allow you to plug the 6a box directly to the Ford distributor harness; part # 8869.

AFAIK you can wire the msd to work with the duraspark or you can wire it to eliminate the duraspark box.  I think there is a msd harness that goes from the dizzy plug to the msd.  Try msd p/n 8869.  I think thats the right number but not 100% sure.

That's What I Figured Seeing They Were Both Cdi Boxes...i Got Plenty Of Stuff To Switch Back And Forth,  Racecars...burnt 2 Of The Durafart Boxes Before Realizing It Was The Ground That My Buddy Put In

You can wire em up a couple of differant ways to the duraspark system.

Ive got it piggy backing the duraspark system in my truck.
