Title: 87-88 thunder bird tranny question
Post by: jpc647 on September 22, 2008, 01:46:00 PM
The v8 and v6 transmissions from a 1987 and 1988 (respectively) thunderbird are the same size, but there are different internals right?

The v8 transmission has bigger or heavier duty clutches and stuff right?

The v8 has more clutches.

Also, I believe the V6 trans has the smaller C overdrive servo and the V8 trans has the B overdrive servo.  So far my V6 trans with the Transgo is still holding up behind the 5.0 HO with 100K+ miles, but I don't drag race it.
