I have heard that you can mount a 1979-82 Mustang GT hood scoop on a thunderbird and it fits and looks good. I have only been able to find 1 picture of this modification and it was not that clear. Has anybody done this or have pictures?
Thanks,
Hey another ontario guy,welcome.
1wldbrd did it to his at one point amongst various other scoops.
Not really my thing(stick with a turbo coupe hood)but too each his own,it definetley does fit though.
Thanks, that helps. I looked at 1wldbrd's car. Would still be intrested to see a 83-86 body style with that scoop.
welcome man, cant help ya with that body style, unless you wanna see an 85 cougar with the 85 tbird front clip and a 69 Mach 1 scoop....
Here ya go...:burnout: was originally on my '86 Cougar, to clear the carb on the 351W.
Say, where did that Bird come from? :)
you could have at least put it on the right direction.... '79-'82, opening faces forwards... '83-'84 it is a different scoop and faces backwards....
if you wanted it facing that way, why didnt you use an '83 GT scoop?
My son's old 'Bird, long since gone.
Didn't like forward facing "nonfunctional scoops", had it laying around from an old Mustang. I liked it, all that matters to me.:shakeass:
ok... explain something to me..... how would it NOT be functional if it was facing forwards to "clear the carb..." with that statement, obviously there is a hole cut out from under it... so if it was facing forwards, ti would infact be very functional....:mullet:
I thought they had fake openings in them.No real air intake.
you guys ever hear of a cut off wheel? the scoops are fiberglass.. VERY easy to open the cover up....
Look, I don't want to argue about the "proper" way to mount a frikken hood scoop. I liked it that way, if you don't too bad. Next time I change something on my cars, I'll check with you first, so it's done correctly. Just so you rest easy, that car is long gone, backwards scoop and all. :toilet:
Why did the bird get sent to the JY.
hahah relax buddy......
