my bird is running really rich and i cant figure out the problem for anything. its so bad that if my dad is behind me in his car he can smell the fumes while its driving down the road. it has been like this since i replaced the map sensor a couple months ago but ive kinda been putting it off but it is getting worse so i gotta get it fixed because its gotta be killing the fuel economy. does anyone have any suggestions where to start looking?

im gonna read codes here in a minute but i just went out and pulled every other plug and they all look brand new. its probably been 1000 miles since i replaced them but they werent wet or anything. im just used to working on dirtbikes and quads and such so thats where im used to starting at. im gonna go read codes now
Be sure the vacuum line to the MAP isn't pinched or collapsed... Maybe you got a shiznitty MAP... Run codes..
i just ran codes and i got code 34 and 91. does anybody know how to fix these codes?
Well 91 means you have system lean left side. To test to see if it's the o2 sensor swap them from side to side. If the right side throws a lean code replace the sensor.
okay well i was really planning on getting an x or an h pipe soon, and i already have the headers and gaskets and what not. so i figure if im gonna have to take the time to get the o2 sensors out, i might as well replace it all at once. does anyone have a x or h pipe they want to get rid of near central ohio?
if you have black smoke coming out of your exhaust, your cats are shot and there's a bad vaccum line to the map sensor. Check under your intake and make sure all the lines are good and not ripped.
On my car it actually would cover the ground in black soot.
Gotta watch, most X pipes don't fit a AOD, especially if you have a floor shifter...
the car doesnt throw any visible black smoke, but i do notice that if i let it run in one spot for a little bit there is some black soot on the ground but nothing major. and i do not have a floor shifter, i have a column shifter instead.
FInaly someone knows why a X-pipe wont fit a thunderbird. I have told a lot of people that and they say that it will it just a mustang thing, and I fillen just laugh at them.
