I have the power antenna on my 88 T-Bird and I believe it is time to replace. It no longer goes up/down (luckily it was up when quit) and reception on AM, yes I listen to talk radio alot, is spotty. Should I get another power, or go to fixed? Is there a tech sheet on doing this, either way?
there was a guy on ebay that had nos antennas for
25.00.might still have some.power antennas
It may also be the switch...that's a common problem. Might want to pick up another switch and try that also.
Here is the parts number for the factory replacement its made my Metra. and I believe u can get it at any parts store I know that AutoZone and Advance keeps them in stock in my area. The part number is 44-PW22 for the Metra.
Quick question my power antenna is not viseable and there is a place on the right front fender were it looks like someone welded a hole is that were the antenna is located.
Thanks for the help. I tagged a couple on Ebay to watch.
Is there advice/instructions out there on how to access it to replace it? As I understand it, it is between the RF fender and the wheel well enclosure. How hard will that be to get to?
loosen the rear of the fender liner and you will see
the bolt retaining the antenna. there is also a tube
nut that goes through the top of the fender. takes
a spec. socket. pull the antenna wire off and its out.
sometimes its easier just to drop the whole liner.
few screws at the outside of the fender and some
push in retainers with a pullout center pin.
