been busy with this mess for the past two weeks.I had a bad leak in the camper and it was in a area I could not see.the way I dicovered it,the floor began to get very mushy/soft.
so I proceed to tear it apart and remove all the bad wood and replace it all.

when you buy a camper, beware and look it over good.I believe the seller knew that it had a leak and never bothered to mention it.
this is as far as I got today with it.
Looks good! How big is it? If we could find a little pop up it would be nice, but never have the $ when the deals come around
Hey Joe, How long have you had that Camper? Great job on your repairs and just think of all the (moolah) you are saving by doing that yourself. LOL :headbang: :poke:
Is this the makins of the BirdRV? Please it would be COOL I tell you! Here watch this gold watch swing back and forth slowly. You are feeling very sleepy, You are asleep. Now that youare fully asleep I COMMAND YOU TO BUILD THE BIRD RV! NOTHING ELSE IN YOUR LIFE WILL MATTER! IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME! when I snap my finger you will awaken and go about what I have told you! SNAP
now hop to it ! LOL
Hard to believe a camper ever would have been manufactured with an OSB floor. That stuff just falls apart when wet, and all campers are pr0ne to leaking at some point in their lives....
Also hard to believe they used it because of the flammability it it.
That stuff burns hot and fast.
cougar86_89: it is a 2003 24' coachman
Mercury-man: I bought it last year.I had a 2003, 31' Jayco I bought brand new (I loved that camper) before this one and I sold it after I switched jobs.
Ipsd : the only way this thing will ever fly,is when I drive if off a cliff.
you would not believe how cheaply RV's are made.they do everthing possible to keep the weight and exspense down on them.
as far as the OSB board, its fine,as long as it stays dry.........lol
hey Daminc, isnt this the type of project you could get into?.........lol
It would be a fun project. Like miniature house remodeling.
Do you have more pics of the whole thing.
these pictures are not of my camper but they are the same model.(coachman 241fk limited edition)
I will post some pics of mine as soon as I finish it.the inside is a mess at the moment.
the picture of the kitchen, is the area that I am repairing
a little update for anyone interested.
I finished up all of the frame work, insulation and plywood for the new floor.I hope to put down the new flooring tomorrow and put the counter top and cabinets back in.
3 more
well, I am getting near the end with this,I've had a few other projects get in my way of this one..............dont even have any time to enjoy the T-Bird
Is that the loose lay flooring off the roll from Lowes?
Nope,Its actually in strips and has a adhesive back. 3' x 4" strips. Its a much better quality floor, compared to the they put in this thing...................lol.
I often thought of buying up campers and redo/recondition them (make them better than factory) and resale them.It would be a fun past time.
Looking very nice, I really like that flooring. My dad and I have redone a few trailers and sold them. It's nice when people show up to look at the older trailer and just can't believe how much nicer it is than the newer ones they have been looking at. I will say though that some of those specialty RV parts that you need but can't find are way spendy. Like trying to get some of those unobtanium TBird parts :D
