"Congratulations to #3 qualifier Jim Plimpton of Franksville, Wisconsin. Despite stratospheric engine temps on the driving portion of the 5th annual HOT ROD Pump Gas Drags, Plimpton took the win with a 8.536-second e.t. at 163.06 mph in his ProCharger supercharged, 572ci Ford-powered '89 Thunderbird."
1989 Thunderbird :punchballs: I think the article in the magazine states it ran in the mid-170s, not 163.

Not bad thats a shagy ride.
Now we're talking ! Oh yeah !
That car has my 2 favorite automotive things in the world....Fox Body T-Bird and a Big Block Ford !:burnout:
This is ooooooooooooooold news........
....but good news :)
There WAS a 4 eye Tbird that made it to the top 16 on the latest Pinks All Out but he blew his engine on the second qualifying pass....figures.
very nice :idhitit: :ies: :fordbang: :tbirdbang:
now i feel better:burnout:
Doesn't look like an '89 to me, but still...very nice ;)
Wow,awesome. They actually kept it looking nice as well.
that is SICK!! very cool, but I would hate to see how fast that fuel gauge moves....
No links to the video time to go dig up old posts. But that is a sick 1987-1988 T-Bird and looks good and shows you can still make anything fast.
that is so boss...I bet fox body t-birds get a little more attention after that is featured in the mag.
What a launch,, I guess you got a good launch when your back tires crinkle like that.
Check these links out for one of the wildest Thunderbirds ever.

And that time was with a full interior too. That's awesome.
Someone needs to tell them it's an '88 not an '89
I don't know man, HOTROD is always saying that people should build Fox T-birds/Cougars...I guess if we want to stay unique maybe that isn't a good thing.
I went to Power Tour this year in my 'Stang and didn't see a SINGLE fox T-bird or Cougar. Fox Mustangs were everywhere of course (blah). Funny thing there were several '80s GMs (saw a few nice Monte's, 3rd gen Camaros, a nice Cutlass parked next to me one day, etc). Next time I go its in the T-bird for sure.
The reason you didn't see a fox Bird or Cat is that few are left. Have you tried to find one? They are kinda rare now, at least in the rust belt....
its also hard to find muscle cars that any common man can afford but those were everywhere.
Rust bucket 1st gen camaro = $5000
fox body t-bird = what $2500 for a nice one
You'd think people would show more interest...thats all I'm saying
If I can ever get my bird finished...:punchballs: .... I want to run the Hot Rod Power Tour with it :burnout:
That's kind of funny that a bunch of magazine gear heads got the wrong year on that bird. Unless of course that guys writing left a litttle to be desired. Maybe his 7 looked like a 9:dunno:
Sorry to hi-jack, but I did the first leg in my Mark this year, and I didn't see a single fox Bird or Cougar either. I did see a red MN-12 bird and a white one, but that was it. There were 4 Mark VIIs however. :D You definitely need to bring your bird next year. There's talk that it's gonna run down to Chattanooga which means I'll be hitting the last leg.
My pics are Here (http://"http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a38/cb400f75/HRPT%2008/"), but they're not all mine cause my stupid SD card decided to die in Springfield. The password is cougar

yeah man I almost forgot about those Marks. Who was the guy with the chromed out Cobra motor...man that thing was nice. Like 100% chrome everywhere and clean as a pin.
Does anyone else find it odd that they say its a 89 when clearly its a 87 or 88, or is it just me.
You're probably thinking about Bill's 89 LSC (Bill89lsc on lincolnsonline). I didn't see his car in person cause he didn't join up until after Springfield, but I've seen it online. It's insane how much he's polished on that thing. He even spent a day polishing his transmission lines. :hick:
The atom airel is sick and the pantera is super nice but thanks for the pictures man.
