do any other calipers fit the stock TC rear? is there a place to get calipers at a good price, other than the junkyard?
nope, theyre 87-88 TC specific
if you get a set of junkyard calipers, and use them as cores, the price will drop considerably
Actually, early Taurus SHO's have the same rear calipers (fact, Im using them) and I believe that the early 90's lincoln cont. have the came rear calipers as well but I have not checked that personally.
As for price, even with cores it cost me ~140 for loaded rear calipers
On the subject of TC rears... does anyone have the part number for the rear quad shocks? I'll be needing a set or two.
Offhand I don't know the numbers, but if you take a trip to Advance or AZ, they can look it up for you. Make sure you tell them it's for a 1988 Mustang GT...NOT a T-Bird or Cougar. Should be roughly $12-15 each, perhaps the Tenneco brand (parent of Monroe).
I recently bought a set for my new TC. Got 'em from Advance, the numbers on the box are 20849, and below that was 22-4105-6.
They are Tenneco, as Eric mentioned.
Yep, just found 'em on Advance's site. Those are the numbers. List is $11.88 each.
Monroe 20849
Gas-Charged Heavy Duty Shock Absorber: Rear; Axle Damper; 2 Required Per Vehicle

Autozone has them listed as steering dampners, $10 each for Gabriels.
got mine at rockauto.com ..... they had monroe and KYB when I got mine
ok, now about the e-brake cable....how do you get it off and where do you get it from? all the way from the pedal back? the TC I pulled the rear from, the calipers were gone, and the e-brake cables were hanging there where they apparently attatched to the calipers. IIRC there was just a little piece of metal at the end, I don't know how the cable attatches to the brakes but I'm assuming this little piece of metal locks into place on the brakes somehow. I'm wanting to go to the yard and see if they have any more TCs out there
unless you are luckier down there then up here you are SOL.they are otherwise discontinued and no loger available.i tried to get them but was unable to locate any for my 87 TC
I wasn't looking to buy new, I was trying to get them from the pick-n-pull. I couldn't figure out how the hell to get it off the pedal tho
