Hello again, I finally got some pics of my 88 Sport since picking up about 4 weeks ago. It's not perfect but I really wanted a clean starting point, and with it living it's life in Tuscon AZ I think I found it. Driving it home for 10 hours also let me know all the things that need some attention, like the cruise is inop, needs a new dash light dimmer switch (dash lights are currently wired into accy wire), needed new swaybar to body bushings (fixed). Front struts are new but seem extremely stiff for the first 1" of travel. The previous owner had put in a B&M Quicksilver shifter, then removed it so the center console around the shifter is hacked up (I did get the B&M shifter so I may just reinstall it to hide the hack job).
Now for the next mods - wading through the wall of text search results for which 8.8 rearend to use with 5 lug drum brakes and use 10" wide rims. From my Mustang endeavors I've got a 3G alt, Taurus Fan, Underdrive pulley kit, 3.73's in the garage to install. Switching over to Megasquirt while it's mostly stock to get the tune right and start the motor work.
There are some really super nice Tbirds and Cougars on this forum to keep me motivated and inspired.
And a thanks to ArizonaTC for the info on this car after my original posts

holy ! that thing is NICE!!!! how much did you score it for?
With purchase price, plane ticket, and gas I've got about $2600 in it. Unfortunately I was only able to sell my 88 GT Hatchback for $1800, but that's the story of my life.... buy high sell low.
I think you got a hell of a deal on the bird... if you want info on installing a B&M Hammer shifter, check out my thread in the drivetrain section... NOT an easy job, but I think it is worth it, if you like the AOD...
Great looking car.Nice ride. The interior looks just like mine....except I have dark graphite carpet. Two thumbs up.
That bird is gorgeous!!! I wish our Ohio cars stayed that clean.
Privateer, Nice :birdsmily: and Welcome to the Board. :poke:

Ok, wow! So, I guess undercoating does actually do something! My car's previous owner drove the car in winters but had it undercoated/treated each year before winter. Dang!! My car was NEVER that bad. Props man, I had NO idea! :D
Oh, and Privateer, NICE! That thing is clean, great score!
MY GOD! That is horrendous man.
Privateer that is a nice car...all of us mid-westerners are jealous of your lack of rust.
It's aright. this is the same side now.

Thanks guys, and all I can say is Daminc you are the man  I don't think, no scratch that, I know I don't have that kind of patience. I did spend about 8 months looking for a 87/88 Sport/XR7 before I found this one though.
Privateer,
Treat that car like gold.
Privateer that is one sweet ride. love it but hate you! LOL is that because your lack of rust! Hell Yes! You've got it now get with it. Keep us posted.
Very nice Bird! That's the key, you have to find a rust free car. My Mark spent most of it's life in California, and then in Oklahoma before I bought it.
-SWEET RIDE, privateer....
Priv,
Wow, that car cleaned up very nicely!
Hey.. there is a Turbo Coupe Parts Car for sale in Phoenix.
No engine or trans but does have the rest of the suspension, TC Hood, interior (Raven I believe)
Where I am going with this is it has the 8.8 TC rear with disc brakes.

I have no response to the underside of that car other than "wow"...
I know. My 88 doesn't even look that clean, and it's from California....
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I will say the car isn't without it's problems, but I did want a nice clean place to start.
