Title: Official Miami Vice Fox Spotting Thread
Post by: EricCoolCats on March 15, 2005, 09:59:21 AM
Finding some real treasures in the Miami Vice: Season One box set. Not as many Cats and 'Birds as you'd think but still found some primo examples. As I get screen shots I'll post them. Here's the first, from "Milk Money", about 8:00 in:

I bet you buy all the 80's TV show DVDs just to look for Cougars and 'Birds don't you?  :D

OK, maybe you guys can help...

I've been trying to convince Eric to show up at CJ in his vert dressed as the part playing the Miami Vice theme and have yet to get him to agree to it.

So help convince him! Eric, you did it to yourself, you just keep bringing it up, lol. You know you want to!

Oh Eric, you shouldn't have posted that! LOL! :D

Looks like I need to buy another DVD set!  Already got Knight Rider and Starsky and Hutch.  Waiting for CHiPs. :)

Not a problem...got the Miami Vice theme ready in the stereo, and some old-school late 1980's threads in the closet.

Now all I need is a Tubbs. Who's gonna be my Tubbs?!

From a distance, that picture reminds me of Ozzy, Black Sabbath days.  Sorry Eric, but Miami Vice cannot touch the awesomeness of the Greatest American Hero.  My buddy wanted a Dodge Diplomat like the one in that show for years.

I think that was a modified Mark VII, aka LUX 6000 in the first one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the Movie Terminator 2, during the Dirtbike/Semi Chase scene, the Semi driven by the T-1000 smashes a stripped down hulk of a 83-86 T-bird out of its way. At least it looked like the stripped down rusted hulk of one.....the tail lights looked about right.

It sure looked like it.

And the 6000 SUX was based on a GM midsize car from the mid 1970s...Buick Regal, Chevy Malibu, Olds Cutlass Supreme...IIRC the doors told me it was the Chevy.

You guys take this all too seriously. You should try being a Crown Vic fan. Have you seen how many Crown Vics get smashed in the movies? You should have felt my pain during the Crown Vic killing scene in the Blues Brother's 2000.They dog piled like 70 Crown Vics, just for grins.

For every show that crashes a fox, I guarantee they crash at least twice as many Crown Vics!!

At the movies made here, the most crashed car is the chevrolet Suburban. i had seen at least 30 times......

Yeah, the crown victoria is the second most crashed car here too!

The grand marquis is very crashed, too....

Do you remember the video of madonna Driving a Firebird and crashing a 84-86 cougar ?

another was a CSI, this one was another light blue tbird. they find a body in the trunk. i remember another one being csi, another episode.

Yup, I was wrong...

Quote
Two complete SUX cars that were fully operational was built with parts for a third one that the pro*duction people blew up in Dallas. From the beginning they wanted a big car in the four-door configuration, one that could be modernized to make It look more futuristic, so for the basic body they chose a '77 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, mainly because it had an Interesting window line.

They designed in a large air inlet In the front, a couple more air inlets on the sides and toward the rear and then a very large rectangular exhaust system In the center rear. The actual auto bodies themselves were made from fiberglass components. They mocked up the SUX in metal, foam and plastic, and then took fiberglass molds of it and made fiberglass parts. The complete front end was all removable as one piece back to the windshield, and the back end lifted up like a trunk. As for the engine and interior work, that was all stock -whatever came with the Oldsmobile in the first place.

The wraith was great. It was so stupid that you couldn't help but like it. Especially seeing the shadows and dust coming from the camera car.

I remember that. I think it only played on tv a couple times because of some kind of controversy over the content or something like that.

There are atleast a dozon fox cougars and t-birds in Planes Trains and Automobiles. They are all at a rental car place where Steve Martin is left in the middle of the parking lot. If I had the movie, I would put up some shots.

How do you get the screen shots? I've tried doing a capture screen before but all I get is a black picture. I researched it some and it has somethign to do with how the DVD plays, goes straight tothe video card or someting........been awhile.

I know there is a scene in one of my Knight Rider DVD's with a box bird.

I don't know if M$ did the same thing Apple did, but on my Mac the screenshot option that's available for everything else on the computer (shift-command-3) is disabled when the DVD player program is running. It's for copyright protection issues. I ended up downloading an add-on to the stock DVD player that lets a person take a screenshot from a separate program. It's a PITA but it works.

Awesome, thanks.  :D

No I don't really care for Macs. I know they are great for stuff like this but I could just never get into them. And yes I did use them semi-frequently at my old job so I have given them a chance. OS 9 always gave me a fit. OS 10 was 1000 times better.

I just hate using the mouse, I work faster with the keyboard and the Macs just seemed too keyboard dependent to me.

Anyway enough of that..........I'll try to get some pics up.......
