I need to see if anyone has the wiring diagram for a 83 T Bird with the electronic instrument cluster. In particular I am after the area involving the fuel guage wiring as it is a digital readout . I have the complete set of Ford manuals for this car but am lacking the elec/vac manual. If anyone has one for sale let me know. I have the manual for another Bird here(1980) which is similer in some areas but not in others. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Can you tell us what trouble you are having with the fuel reading. All of the full digital clusters have test steps to "prove out" the display or pull codes.
There are insturctions for this in my shop manual and some things i have posted in the diy link as well.
I know the full digi cluster was rare in 83 but can you post up a pic of it?
It runs its self test fine, after it goes to a flashing E, F and the grad marks. According to the shop manual this is showing an open circuit alert which is exactly opposite of my 80's electronic dash which has a short. Anyhow I need to check resistance in the wiring and am hoping it to be a problem in circuit 29 and not the guage. As for it being rare in 83, dont know. This car is a Heritage so its pretty well equipped but I have seen a couple others that also had this elec cluster although back in 83 we ordered a 83 same color as our 57 but it had a normal cluster. yeah, but what exactly is the problem you are having.
The E F and grad marks flash constantly and it shows no fuel level.
This is from the 84 EVTM, may be closer to what you need than the 87.

I will see what the 87 shop manual says,, and this weekend, swing by my local dealer who has a grave yard of shop manuals going back to the 60's and compare notes to the actual 84 shop manual.
Thanks, the car is a 83 not an 84 though. I have the factory ford manuals, all 5 or 6 of them. Came from an out of business dealer. Anyhow maybe your dealer friend will have something else.

To enter the Fuel computer self test
Press and hold the Select button atleast 5 or so seconds until the test display appears then advance thru the tests by pressing on Select over again.
