I need a spare tire. What I'd like is something along the lines of a space saver but with an outside diameter similar to the street tires. It would be nice to have something really thin and light. Talking to the local tire shop, they say there isn't anything they can get like that, except by ordering from a stealership. They suggested looking at the spares on newer cars. With the advent of factory Donks, the space savers are getting bigger.
I need something that will clear Cobra calipers, either because of diameter or offset, overall diameter ~25", std. Ford 5 lug bolt circle (of course), as thin as possible, rated for a 3500 lb. vehicle.
Any suggestions, either a space saver or something for drag racing?
See what the new Dodges have. IIRC they have a 5x4.5" bolt pattern. I think some of the Fairmont/LTD guys have used a set of 300 or Charger steelies on their cars (with the 5-lug/big brakes)
I was just going to suggest same as Chuck...
AFIK the largest tire/wheel from a Ford product, with the correct bolt pattern, will be from a newer Grand Marquis or Cn Vic...

mental note *adds spare to jy list*
made the trip to CJ and back w/o a spare :nono:
A spare what?!?
Ok, yeah, you guess it, i need one too! They are pricey, but keep your eyes open for a Cobra spare. should drop right down into the stock location, that's what I hope to do...
What's wrong with a full size spare? To big?

Yeah, it's funny how an 18x9 wheel fills up the trunk.
I've pushed my luck for too long on going w/out a spare.
thanks Chuck
I not sure but Don't the police run on there Crown victs a 17inch rim would theat work.
The spares in LSCs are 16 inch. I don't know if that's enough to clear cobra brakes though. :wtf: :giggle:
