Do they fit right onto out cars? Are any modifications needed?

I had to cut the top part where it clamps in the corners, but otherwise, I used the center hole to locate it to the center screw from the old one, and the two outer screw holes I moved a little to get it to fit right.  Then I drilled new holes and used the push clips that were included(not the christmas trees, but the ones with the push pin in the center) and you also have to cut off the ends some because otherwise they run into the tires

And yes, it is medium red.  Kinda a lame name for it though.  Thought it would be a little higher class than medium red, rofl

Your selling yourself short, use it's full name and it will sound better:  Medium Red Clearcoat Metallic.  ;)

The chin spoiler (and car) look terrific.

Broke down and ordered one......shipped unrolled too.

Bought a new door lock actuator too:mad:
Last one was Ford direct......lasted just over 2 years IIRC.

I ordered mine rolled up, set it out in the sun while I was at work, and it took shape without problems.

These aren't going to fit a non-turbo coupe.

Don't you just love the way it kinda "dips out" in the front?Just awesome. That's what sold me on it.

They've been put on other cars besides Mach 1's and TC's....
Shame302 did it to a 99-01 Cobra front bumper....Which is probably a little more difficult believe it or not ;)

Guess I'll be the gineau pig.  I thought somebody on here put it on a non-TC bumper....

Post by: Tbird232ci on August 07, 2008, 05:39:07 PM
The problem is where the bumper dips where the factory chin spoiler rests.

They actually fit on all mustangs from 94-04 other than the Cobras. Obviously they can be made to fit others, but they're easy on the non-Cobras.

I have 2 ideas for what you are referring to.....Not sure which one will work better.  I'll decide on that when it actually arrives so I can do a mock up.

Nice job. Can you post some more pics (close-ups)? I'm interested in how close the contour fits with the existing body lines, especially where you had to cut it at the wheel opening.
Thanks,
Rick

splitting hairs but the mach 1s were 03-04.

you could be close to the 300 hp mark but id bet anything your car wouldnt put down more than 270 to the ground (WHP) given your new times posted in the race section nevermind the ones in your sig. effing nice tcoupe though.

Am I the only one that doesn't like a chin spoiler on our cars?  The lines follow so nicely all around the car (rear bumer cover, to rocker panels to fenders) and then suddenly the front lines don't match up...  like a car with only the front bumper cover portion of a ground fx kit on.  Speaking strictly appearance, I'm not a fan.....  ??

Well, what weight are you using to come up with your hp #'s?  My car weighed right at 3500# without me in it, so add another 190#.  I used the internet calculators because I do trust them.  I used them with the times and speed with my truck, and then went to a dyno day, and it was within 10 or 20hp.  It would be making more power if I would ever get around to putting subframe connectors on it cause I dont want to twist it:mad:

well, i weighed my car at the track...3500ish with me in it. im 185-190ish. 1/4 tank of gas, no spare. stock engine is 320 crank hp, maybe 10-20 more with mods if im lucky. 13.4 with a trap speed of 106.94, call it 107. my car might put down 290 hp to the ground if im lucky. real world times, not internet guesstamates. this may, or may not apply to your car and times, just my personal experiance and criteria for estimating yours.

I hear ya.  I've had NO time to work on my Chin spoiler..... I need about 6 hours total I'm guessing and I would like to do it all at once what with the cutting and notching for the standard front-end.....

The wife has other plans.....
Her -----> :nutkick: <----- my projects

I'll be doing something with a different set of valve covers shortly as well.

Might I add those Snowflakes make the car the way they are done! ;)

@ what pressure and BFSC?

Its at 22 psi on my holset, and it pulls way harder than it did at 20.  I cant wait to find out how hard it pulls at 28/30 psi.  Base fuel pressure is 38/39psi, but am not exactly sure what bfsc is referring to

V8demon, I put this on in about 45 minutes total.  I did most of it during lunch at work, and then finished it later that evening

BSFC = Brake specific fuel consumption

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brake_specific_fuel_consumption

Fuel requirement in lbs./hr = (Max HP x BSFC) / (number of injectors x duty cycle) Most OEM manufacturers like to keep max. duty cycle at .80 to .85

A forced induction engine almost always has a higher BSFC than a N/A engine of similar size and power (I.E stock motor w/ a centrifugal blower vs. a H/C/I motor both producing equal peak power.)

Hey John: Long time no see. How are you doing?
I'm doing fine and the Bird is good. I added an S-trim since the last time you saw my car. Being blown is good!!!!
I haven't had a chance to make it to FFW the last couple of years. Hope to make it next year.
How are your projects coming along?

Talk to you sometime soon I hope.

Very nice.  Looks factory, and I mean that as the best of compliments.  You've got me seriously considering that for mine (instead of something else), even though it isn't deep enough.

I think if that little py chin spoiler that came on my TC bumper cover can keep my 5.0 cool enough, the Mach 1 spoiler I have waiting should be more than enough (obviously when the car is moving).I'll have an electric fan on soon.

I figured this thing would easily ram more air up in there because the one I took off looked like it would force the air down instead of up and this is pointed so that it would scoop the air up, and it is also taller than the stock one was

I'm looking at something that leaves a smaller gap between the spoiler and the ground.

I originally was thinking that, then I realized how many times (More than I can remember) that the factory lip spoiler has sed on an incline,or on a curb when I was parking the car, etc.I try to be cautious, but I don't want to tear anything up,and I know how my luck is.

Vinnie, that's why I haven't decided yet.  I'm looking for something that's going to work the way I want and won't be a problem to replace when it gets broken.
