One step closer to the 5 speed....

WOW, that looks AWESOME.... (note the sarcasm..... ) where the hell are the pics?!?!?
Give Me 5 Minutes !!!!!
Alright....NOW you can see them.
Sweet. Those BBKs are pimp.
V-man, A little here & there will make it worth while seeing your "Sport" at CJ 09 next summer keep up the great work dude. :headbang: :poke:
Thanks a lot.I'm trying to do quality work.Oh,and about the BBK's being pimp............you're right.LOL.
What his car wasn't worth seeing at c-jam 09 without extra mods LOL jk.
Vin, you got forged flat tops???????
Aren't they the stock SO pistons???????,SO pistons weren't forged,if there not stock my bad, just curious is all.
The engine was originally from an '87 Mark VII.Forged flat tops. The engine has been great.I'm having a little low end power issue, but,I think it's the E303 cam and other mods including a shift kit in the tranny, but a stock converter.Once the 5 speed is in,the manners of the car will probably change a little.
Yea that makes more sense.
However the stock HO pistons look like flat tops but have very small eyebrows in them,i thought the same when i took the heads off the HO.
The stock 1600 stall convertor will give you a low end loss for sure,i think the e-cam states 2400+ stall to work correctly.
The 5-speed will make all the difference.
The 2400 stall is a big improvement, with E-303.I had 2000 +2400-2600 non lock before the t-5 swap. Now with my 3.73's 1st + 2nd is almost worthless to me.Either just burn the tires or the rpm limiter smacks me.But I guess thats a good thing.
its funny that everyone says the E cam has no bottom end.... mine effs off pretty good from a stop.... Chris I will have to take you for a rip at the car show one of these nights and show you... or maybe make a video of me hammering it from a stop... yeah you can feel it come into its power band as it revs, but there is still lots of bottom end to it... in mine anyways, even with the stock tranny and gears...
I can get the car to bark the tires in second and third, but it's still shifts too fast at lower rpms.I can't wait to sell the AOD and get the 5 speed in.It should be in on the 2nd.I'll have pics of it.
awesome work!!
Cant wait to get the stuff and do my mark up with a 5 speed
Get on it.I just bought a piece at a time until I had all the pieces.
yea i had a whole set up i was gonna get but i passed on it for more important stuff
Good work Vinnie! The hardest part is done now. Have you installed the clutch cable? It's basically a tranny r&r from there.
No,I haven't put the cable in yet.I have a factory replacement cable (new),and a firewall adjuster. How exactly does the firewall adjuster work? Also
The ajuster allows you to ajust the free play at the firewall instead of going under the car to do it,alot easier.will it fit with your booster?,mine didn't had to use a stang one.
I haven't tried the adjuster yet.If not, then I suppose a Stang booster may be needed. We'll see.I'm just ready to get it finished.Next Saturday evening I should have the pics and good news.
This convinces me NOT to do this swap. LOL
Around here with all the hills and bridges, my arm would be sore from driving my car. (from shifting) LOL
It would be like sawing wood (get it) LOL
But you are doing an awesome job Vin
Compared to the steel swapping you're doing,I'm having a walk in the park.LOL.
nice job vinnie... just wanted to say one thing... steering column does NOT have to come out :-p but it does make it LOADS easier lol
keep up the good work im bout to go back out to the shop to work on my project :-|
Pulling the column overall took less time than trying to do the job while it was still bolted in.Plus,I got that cool pic of the BBK's in there.LOL.I was going to go out and work on the Sport as well, but it's 104 degrees. It'll wait.
Nice work and BBKs is all i have ever used or had so i have to say there good enough i will never change them. Honestly i thought it was just gonna be some nice Mustang chrome pedal covers not a whole swap great work.
I didn't want chrome pedal covers. The tuner guys can have those things.I'd install a set of Bullitt Mustang pedal covers, though.I want a mostly factory look.Nothing that really attracts a lot of attention on the first look.I'm looking for a 5 speed harness.I THINK I heard that you can graft the Mustang 5 speed harness to the Thunderbird AOD harness.Does anyone know if that's true?
I want a set of UPR pedal covers that say GT or 5.0 but there nice and like $40 a set. So whats next after this pedal swap?
Next up,the rest of the swap.....5 speed transmission,clutch cable,clutch,,block plate,flywheel,bell housing,shifter assembly,Billet pistol grip Hurst shifter handle,new shifter boot (maybe),lot's of fun,stupid smile that won't go away,etc.,etc.,etc.
