A family member has asked me to get the car back in running condition. The car is in great shape, it was running a year ago before it was parked.
I went over to start the car yesterday with the assumption(due to the condition/miles) that all the car needed is a jump (left my tools back home)to get her back up and running. After a few turns of the key and no fuel ignition taking place I knew something was wrong. With the tools that were available at the house, I was able to determine this.
The car has air.
The car has fuel.
The car does not have spark.
The distributor is turning.
The cap and rotor are in good condition(replaced last year).
Ignition module attached to distributor is new.
The wires/plugs were replaced last year (no meter to perform continuity test).
Ignition coil is new.
Starter relay works without hesitation.
Battery is old and slighter under desired voltage/amp output.
First check for any chewed wires. Then if none pull the TFI off the dizzy and take it to get checked. If it checks out I must say sounds like the Pick up inside the Dizzy. Take the battery along with you so it can get charged and tested just for good measure.
