Title: Dyno Day!..... Videos added!
Post by: 1WLD BRD on July 20, 2008, 04:53:45 PM
Went to the steeda dyno day and had them make two pulls with the cougar.  first pull was the highest torque number...  255lbs/ft and 191hp.  second pull made 194.7hp and 244.4lbs/ft of torque.  RUNNING RICH! with a stock 302 fuel pump and 19lb'ers. I actually need to lower the fuel pressure a bit.  the guy said I should pick up about ten HP, 15 with better weather. They were impressed by the smooth and steady power curve.  fuel ratio was a smooth and steady 11.4.

had Dan (Fox Learner) show up and made him go get his Cougar for some pulls.  he made 191.4 Hp and 277lbs/ft of torque.  The most powerful car was an '07 shelby that shook the ground with 513hp and 508lbs/ft torque.  man did it sound sick, got videos of him too.

I got them to print out a comparason chart between our pulls..  was really cool.  I will scan them and post soon.  also have videos of both our pulls.  on my second run he bounced it off of the rev limiter.

Not really what i expected ron???
A/F sounds good at 11.4 maybe a bit on the rich side as the guy said.
You could lean it out to 13/1 and it should net ya a bit more.
I figured though with that cam, intake,tb and lightly ported e7's you should have been in the 220-230 range but i guess those heads and the aod really do hold the hp back.
With a 15% drivetrain loss that should net your crank hp out at around 225-230hp i'm guessing which is approx stock HO power, weird?????
Do you have the timing set at 14?????
You do have a restriction in the stock maf sensor as well as the restrictive factory headers and non true dual exaust, that must be what is holding your numbers back some.
Need to dyno my ride one of these days, what did it cost ya?
You headin to mapleview on wednesday if the weather holds?????

I said I would be happy with 200 at the wheels...  with a stock AOD the conversion is closer to 20-25%  Hp is closer to 250hp  at the crank.
He said if I lean out the fuel curve to 12.5 then it would put me around the 215 mark.  and if I was a five speed he said I would have easily topped the 230 mark... You can actually see how rich it is running in the video's...  The guy said I am putting more power down then stock fox body 5 speed stangs do, which made me happy.

yes I still have the stock stang headers (for now), but 2.5" true duals with out cats all the way back...  no restriction in the maf  besides the Maf itself...  timing is unknown, doesnt ping...  costed me $45 with the air fuel check....  thanks to going with GTAMC.

yes, I will be at mapleview this week.

Here are the videos:

Vary Niice!

45 for an AF check? how much would it have been to get a gauge for your car?

I have a gauge, the check is to see what exactly the fuel ratio is during a WOT pull, and get a read out on it.

A/F gauges are junk unless its a wideband, which is 300+ dollars.

Why ya running so rich? Do you have an adjustable FPR on it cranked up or something? If anything I would expect you to run more toward the lean side with 19 lb injectors.

Your not stealing the diff out of your TC are ya,LOL.
You may be right on that 20-25%.
As for the restrictions yea i was talking about the maf itself as well as the py factory headers,i thought you had some good ones laying around???
I will be there as long as the weather is mint.
What gear on the aod where those done in,sounds like 2nd and what rpm(sounds like he shot 7000rpm)???? My car frickin screams in 2nd at 14psi.

yep....

yeah it was second, and he did hit the 6250rpm rev limiter on the last run...  They needed to be able to lock the tranny in a test gear so it wouldnt kick down when they stomped it, so I told them to take it up to 60kms then pull it down into first and it will hold second gear... they did that for both of us...
here are the dyno sheets...

dont do it all the time or you will wear it out...  notice in the videos, my car doesnt chirp the tires when he downshifts, and Dan's does?  that is what happens...  the bands start to wear...  Dan has  nice fresh AOD, mine has been worn a bit.  Mine use to bark the tires when I got it...  it still does when I pull it out of OD into D coming down steep grades..

well if it doesnt sell soon (about mid august) I plan to take the turbo and replace it with a T3, then swap the 5 bolt disc brake conversion for my cougar, then drop the price on the bird just to get rid of it...  if I still cant sell if I will throw it in storage....
