Ive scrounged and searched and I cant find the diagram I'm looking for.
My py hanes manual doesn't have all the wiring diagrams. I was wondering if someone with an EVTM could post/email them to me.
I need the diagrams that show how the dash lights get power. Specifically, when the Headlight switch is moved to parking or headlights.
I need to trouble shoot my system. The dash lights go out when the headlights are switched on.
Also, I would be interested in the diagrams for the interior lights. Mine make no attempt to come on when the doors are opened. Some looser who had the car before me made a pretty good noodle mess installing what looked like a home made starter disable.
Ive been able to repair most of it but I need the diagram to fix the dash and interior lights before I get it registered.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I searched ebay for someone selling an electronic copy and came up empty handed.
click on my diy link.,, its in there.
sounds like you have a lot of cluster bulbs burned out.
Ill Check the link. All the cluster bulbs work, I already replaced about a handfull. It lights up nice and clear without the lights on. They work just fine when the lights are off. When you turn on the headlights, everything goes dark.
Sounds to me like the common (ground) for the dimmer pot is hosed. It uses a separate ground from the instrument ground, but eventually winds up in the same place (ground of all places). Check real close to see if one of the connections on the film is rolling back when you push the plug into the socket. Mine did that, and caused me grief with the digital Odo/Speedo. IIRC, there are two or three grounds on each plug. That also depends on the year model. These clusters changed a LOT in '84, which makes the 84 diagram worthless for an 86. Don't ask how I know. The 86 and 87 seem to be identical (I'm running an 87 cluster in my 86). Dunno how much difference there is on an 88, though.
I have an 88 with a full digital cluster (Star wars...yech).
Ill give that a shot this weekend. I think I should be able to trace it backwards from the cluster illumination relay....as soon as i find it.
