Title: '86 TC Running Lean
Post by: tc² on July 05, 2008, 04:10:24 PM
The TC has been running lean at WOT.  It seems normal at any other throttle position.  I have an Air/Fuel guage and at WOT it shows nothing.  The car bogs way down.  I have a Kirban AFPR but no matter which way or to what extent I adjust it I can't feel, see, or hear a difference.  Do I need to go to a 255 lph?

I have a K&N, '88 VAM, FMIC, 65mm TB, stock T3, 3" DP, and single 3" exhaust.

Are you running a wideband air/fuel gauge? What boost are you running? and what is your FP?

What pump are you running?

It's the A/F gauge with the red, yellow, and green lights.  Red for lean, yellow when above "STOICH" and green for rich.  Boost is about 18psi.  I don't know what my fuel pressure is.  I *think* I'm still on the stock pump.  I haven't messed with it and I can't find a receipt for one from the previous owner who kept EVERY receipt.

Regardless, you will need a 255lph high pressure pump. I don't know if that's your problem, but that's something that's just waiting to fail.

Yes I would agree you need a 255lph pump, also that is a narrow band A/F gauge...they are useless. It isnt reliable and doesnt tell you anything. I wouldnt run anymore than 16 psi on a stock pump. Plus you will need to make sure you have at least 39psi stock fuel pressure vac off.

Ok guys, thanks.  I'll turn the PSI down and put that 255 on the shopping list.
