Title: Automatic Shift T handle
Post by: jpc647 on July 01, 2008, 11:28:13 PM
Does anyone have the part number to the automatic shift handle to a 1987 or 1988 turbo coupe? I think it would be the v8 cars.

No # for the shifter. I'll check some different books. I would guess a 83-88 Mustang, and MarkVII would be the same. But not sure.

Mustang fits but is different (triangular shape, chrome button). The Mark VII handle is a different diameter and won't fit.

I snagged an entire shifter including leather handle when I first switched to a std. thinking I could adapt it. Now I can find the shifter base, the bezel but not the handle :hick:

I am putting the Mk7 shifter into my 88 Cat. No big hole to cut in the floor pan, and the rear mounting holes are already in the pan. What I wanted to know is how do you get the shifter  off? It's leather and I want to recondition it before I put it in.

If it's on the shifter like the Birds and Cats, you push in the button, and then twist and pull like a viking to get it off.
