Title: bolt down roller rocker ?
Post by: irv on July 01, 2008, 09:10:40 AM
seeing that the cobra rr's are 1.7 whats the best
brand you guys are using for the non adj bolt on
1.6 rr's. this is for a stock HO motor and i assume
they will clear the covers ? dont want to go 1.7's
because of more lift and it will probably screw up
the speed density computer and system which i
will be keeping. thanks! --irv

Will not make any difference to the speed density(did it to mine before i went mass) going 1.7 cobra rockers on your car.
You will gain about .027-.030" lift at the valve(stock ho cam .444/1.6-.474/1.7) and your duration will not change.
You will still maintain good vacuum and idle therefore your eec will be fine plus it will give you a few extra ponies.

wouldnt going from a .445 lift to .472 be quite a jump
for a stock motor with an aod. wouldnt the car lose
low end. you also would gain some duration too i
would think. maybe im overthinking this. i did this to
my 93 F150 and it ran fine . kind of hunted at idle
but other than that it was o k. i just dont want to
lose the driveability. maybe i should just leave it alone.
thought it will cut down on valve wear.thanks--irv

I used the 1.7 Cobras on a 86 speed density 5.0 Stang and it was fine... Converted to Mass Air and it slowed down, converted back, kept the 1.7s in place...

It will be fine,.030 is not a huge amount.
Your still way under .500" lift and you will still have lots of torque and vacuum.
