Title: 86 Mercury Cougar in Wichita, KS-- $400
Post by: Loaded87IROC on June 26, 2008, 01:10:41 PM
I am selling my project 86 Cougar.  I have owned the car for about 10 years, and the body has about 150k on it.  I used it as a daily driver for some of that time, the rest of the time it just sat because i had a newer daily driver.  The car was originaly a 5.0/AOD car, but i recently swapped in a 2.3T/C3 from a wrecked 50k 86 XR7 that i picked up.  I planned on using the car for a race car, so i stripped it of anything not essential.  Most of the interior is still in the trunk, except for the carpet and headliner which were discarded.  Car has no AC/Heater parts left.

The car will need a few things to be driveable.  The tires will need to be replaced.  The wheels dont match because my parts car was stolen in the middle of the swap.  The windows will need to be repaired, i think they just need the motors taken apart and the plastic parts replaced.  I put a radiatior fan from a Thunderbird SC in, but it needs to be wired up.  I installed a new transmission cooler(the biggest i could get at the parts store) but it is leaking from the hoses.

The car has a new battery, plugs, and wires.  I changed the oil and the tranny fluid.  It starts up and runs great.  Comes with and extra set of doors(the original ones) and an extra stock hood.

I live in Las Vegas now, but if you seriously interested i can have my dad in Wichita show you the car, might take a couple of days to set up though.  I dont really want to sell it but I cant afford to ship it, and I only have room for 2 cars at my apartment.  Please ask questions if you have them.  Here are a few pics of the car and parts.

TTT
Last time i was in Wichita the car would start and run for a couple of seconds and then die.  I'm not sure what the problem is because it was running great before i moved and no changes have been made.  I would suspect a weak fuel pump.

How about $500?

Well if I ever get it to vegas im just going to keep it.  Its just hard for me to justify paying 1000+ dollars for transporting a project car, so i figure i can just start over and have the money i would have used to transport it to buy a project car locally.

It was running great before I moved and when I came back to Wichita a few months later it would start up and run for a few seconds and then die.  I didnt have a chance to figure out the problem because I was only there for a few days on vacation.

Its in overall decent shape.  It does have a couple of cracks in it and it is gutted on the back side of all ac vents and non essential parts.

I just checked all my pics and I couldnt find any pics of the dash, but if necessary I can have my inlaws run by there and snap a couple of pics.  It just might be a few days.  Just let me know.
