Ok............has anyone successfully swapped a Supercharged 3.8 into a Fox body?
I may pick up another Super Coupe for parts.
My oldest Son wants to swap the engine and trans into a clean 1981Granada GLX two door.
Yep. A member named Spazpuppies has done it to a Cougar, but he hasn't posted in awhile, might search his username and find his threads..?
It can be done, but it's not easy...but then again, nothing worth doing should be done for easiness.
Good luck!
I'll be picking up a second super coupe soon. It's worn, complete and running in the area. I want to keep many parts for my 92' five speed. (1 of 1,256 92' five speed cars). My oldest Son wants the engine and trans for a swap into his Granada. I think it should be simple enough to drop the engine and trans in......it's the electronics that maybe a big question. IF the car were in better shape, I'd put my 92' away and drive the 90'.
what year granada is it? I think that 81 and 82 were fox body's, so the trans would prolly not be a good canidate....
IF the Granada has a I6, you'll need a Front crossmember from a 4cyl. v6 or v8 fox body, due to motor mount perches are different for the inline engines...
The wiring will be major hurtle, better have diagrams for both cars before you start...
If I remember correctly, the swap mentioned was performed by a shop, Spaz paid to have it done...
We're looking into that as well...............we'd like to swap in something from a later Fox or Mustang. There is the chance we can make the entire MN-12 subframe work. I may have to fire up the welder for that...............Mmmmmmmm Dad gets to melt metal with fire!
interesting to say the least. Good luck. IIRC, the wiring is extensive and the hardest part.
The upside is with a complete donor car.we have every wire connection, sensor, etc. we may need. :burnout:
