HIDs are definitely on the to-do list but I'm still stuck on how to do it, and the more I read the less it helps.
I've thought about modifying the light wells for an aero look instead of 4-eyes.:nono:
Thought about junkyarding some round lights into the light wells.:barf:
There are companies that sell 4656 retrofits and those are what's really got me confused.
One place (http://"http://www.brightheadlights-hid.com/Headlights-x4656.htm") sells pricey HID low beams and halogen high beams. According to their email answers, they make it sound like halogens are better high beams than HIDs.
Another place (http://"http://www.suvlights.com/product_info.php?products_id=268") that appears cheaper (maybe because they don't offer the optics), looks to be about the same otherwise.
From a post here, these guys (http://"http://www.retro-solutions.com/hid.html") apparently expect someone to know what they're doing. I obviously don't. And I didn't see any 4656s.
Some questions:
Are halogens going be better suited for high beams than HIDs?
Are there HID high beams replacements for 4656 housings?
and of course..
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Well buddy as for number one I do believe that the HIDs are a single beam setup. I don't believe that they make a High beam HID. As for number two see answer to number one please, I have seen the aftermarket replacements for the halogen bulb style but not the HIDs. As for three Those HIDs if they are the real deal are costly. I sold just the bulb at work and that cost $100. Then it took special tools to install it. It was a VW so that might have been part of it. Hope that gives you some insight.
ipsd,
thanks for the info.
After I post a question and someone goes to the trouble of answering, the internets provide an answer. Maybe they googlebombed themselves.
In case anyone is interested...
